Amani National Congress (ANC) has nominated its party leader Musalia Mudavadi as the Prime Cabinet Secretary under Kenya Kwanza government led by President-Elect William Ruto.
In the agreement between United Democratic Alliance ,Ford Kenya and ANC which was signed on April 5 and presented to the Registrar of Political Parties on May 8, UDA was to produce the presidential ticket for the Kenya Kwanza Alliance (KKA) while ANC had to nominate the candidate to be appointed as Prime Cabinet Secretary.

The position of the Prime Cabinet Secretary will be created within 14 days if the President-Elect William Ruto is sworn in while Ford Kenya will nominate the candidate who will be the Speaker of the National Assembly.
Both ANC and Ford-Kenya will also get 30 per cent of government, including Cabinet slots, Principal Secretaries, High Commissioners and other State jobs, says the document.
The position of Prime Cabinet Secretary – equivalent of Prime Minister will be tasked with the responsibility of assisting the president and deputy president in coordinating and supervising ministries and State departments.
“Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula have promised to deliver 95 per cent of the Western votes to Kenya Kwanza Alliance while I have asked them to deliver only 70 per cent of the votes in order to be entitled to 30 per cent of our government positions if we win the elections,” the DP said.
Just like in the Jubilee government where Interior CS Dr Fred Matiang’i was seen to be taking the DP’s lunch, the position of the Chief Minister is likely to create political strife, given that it is likely to dwarf the position of deputy president.
The ANC leader who has been in politics for 33 years has more experience than Ruto’s running mate Rigathi Gachagua.
