Residents of Eldoret have accused an agency of defrauding them, KSh 40, 000 in order to get a job in Qatar during the world cup.
The complainants were supposed to travel to Qatar to offer their services for five months during the FIFA world cup in November.
An intel source of TUKO.co.ke, who didn't want their name disclosed, said they paid KSh 40,000 to the agency known as the First Choice Recruitment and Agency to get recruited in May this year.

According to the person, they were to travel to Qatar between June and July, but they have not, and the agency had remained mum on that.

The person said they tried to reach out to the agency's managing director without success.
He stated that what surprised him most was the salary they were supposed to be paid while there.

Another lady who is also a victim said that she tried to ask for her money back since she had lost hope, but to her surprise, she was told that she would only be refunded KSh 25,000.
The lady divulged that some other people who had demanded their money ahead of her had not received any money, increasing her worry.

However, on her part, the Agency MD Judith Chepchirchir said the allegation was false, saying that the company was committed to fulfilling its promises to the candidates.
Chepchirchir said they have been dispatching the workers in groups since she deals with many people.
She also claimed that their competitors were spreading malicious information about the agency.
She said that the delay they were experiencing was due to paperwork for all the applicants. CVs, recommendation letters, Photos, and COVID-19 certificates, among others.

She also appealed to their applicants to be patient.
In a separate story, TUKO.co.ke reported that the Kenyan government rescued citizens who were trapped in Myanmar after being tricked into fake jobs by unscrupulous cartels.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, seven Kenyans were rescued from the Asian country and taken to Thailand ahead of their repatriation home over the weekend.
The four others who had been smuggled into China upon arrival in Thailand are still held in factories.
