Polycarp Igathe, a Kenya Nairobi Governor Candidate, has got a big boost in his effort to become the next Governor of Nairobi County when a group of young leaders endorsed his campaign.
The youth leaders said their decision was based on a lot of soul-searching, candidate research, and going through several gubernatorial contenders’ manifestos.
Finally, they discovered that Igathe was the best and most adapted to the needs of Nairobi’s young.
As the youth, they have convened and unanimously agreed to support Igathe, according to social activist Absalom Odhiambo Onyango, the man behind viral films supporting ODM leader Raila Odinga.
“Voting for Igathe will ensure that our Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga has a reliable foot soldier on the ground as Governor with whom they can work together in restoring Nairobi’s lost glory and bringing sanity to the city,” said the youth leader, also known as Matakweyi, who is running for the Korogocho ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) on an ODM ticket.
According to Embakasi Youth Leader James Masese, they chose Igathe because he has stood out as a symbol of togetherness in Nairobi, which is made up of individuals from various tribal, social, and religious backgrounds.
“The main reason we chose Polycarp is because he has included youths beyond tribal lines in his campaigns, and he is the only aspirant who has visited different areas in the city asking people what they want done to them, whereas the candidates, his opponents, are full of themselves moving around telling us what they want to do to us, which mostly doesn’t even resonate with us; they are out of touch with the reality at the grassroots, yet they aspire to be president.”
Charles Brian Daddi, a Dagoretti Young Leader, stated that they required a role model that did not have problematic character traits that would set a terrible example for the youth.
“As Nairobi young, we will send Sakaja home so that he may return to school and finish his studies, and we will take Igathe to City Hall to work for us,” Daddi stated.
Igathe, who was hailed in his Gubernatorial manifesto for his corporate and management approach, stressed that his administration will be “all-inclusive.”
“Thank you for having faith in me and putting your trust in me. In exchange, as your humble servant, I will make certain that the laments, complaints, and mourning of the youth are a thing of the past, never to be seen again during my rule. “I shall be a source of happiness for you,” Igathe replied.
Rose Apur Abach, a Makadara Young leader, urged the youth to support Igathe’s campaign, claiming that he has defined in his program how he will create jobs for them and lift them out of poverty.
“Igathe appears real because he has been constant in everything he says, including his history, which has not been clouded by controversy,” she remarked, referring to his rivals, “who we do not trust to lead us.”
